Abiogenesis
We know a process by which fatty acid chains can form in geothermal vents.
We know these fatty acid chains will spontaneously form micelles.
When these micelles merge together, eventually they will form vesicles(also known as liposomes).
With agitation and even higher concentrations of micelles they will form multilamellar vesicles
We know multilamellar vesicles grow into strand-like structures, due to their internal volume not growing as fast as its surface area.
We know these strand-like structures will divide into separate multilamellar vesicles through agitation
We know various processes that can form cytosine and guanine through abiotic processes.
We know nucleic acids can spontaneously polymerize on the surface of montmorillonite clay
We know that this form of genetic polymer is a random mixture between 3` and 5` linkages, and a random mixture between DNA and RNA.
We know this mixture can self-replicate, at least between guanine and cytosine.
We know fragments of this clay can be trapped inside vesicles
We also know that the random linkages, and DNA/RNA mixture lowers the chain's melting point, allowing strand separation to occur spontaneously through heating alone.
And at this point, the only real “leap of faith" needed to have fully explained abiogenesis is that RNA containing only cytosine and guanine is capable of forming ribozymes able to synthesize tyrosine, adenine and uracil, and to assist in their replication. But it's reasonable to assume this claim will be experimentally verified or disproven at some point.
